Alex Gianikas, LSCSW, LMAC
Alex Gianikas is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) and Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC). He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Florida State University in 2009 and Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago in 2013. Alex has extensive experience treating substance use disorders and has provided trainings on the ASAM criteria to other healthcare professionals. He is well versed in addressing the intersection of medical and mental health conditions, having trained with an organ transplantation program and an integrated primary care/behavioral health clinic.
Additional areas of specialization include counseling for legal and medical professionals, LGBTQ-affirmative therapy (including transgender and gender non-conforming), eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and men's issues.
Alex works primarily with adults. In practice he integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention and other strength-based strategies.
