Sheri Y. Sherrill, MS LMLP

Sheri earned her master’s in clinical psychology at Emporia State University and completed her internship at Southcentral Mental Health. She then went to work as a Therapeutic Case Manager at TFI Family Services. This led to her being recruited into the corrections system at the El Dorado Correctional Facility from 2010 until 2016. This provided Sheri with a vast and swift diagnostic education that would have never been gained anywhere else.

In 2016, Sheri was given the opportunity to work at Larned State Hospital in the SOTP Unit where she would be an individual therapist providing groups, individual therapy, and case management for a case load of sometimes over 40 sexual offenders. It was during Sheri’s time at Larned State Hospital that Sheri completed her supervision plan in 2019.

Sheri returned to the El Dorado prison in 2020 to work in the Intensive Mental Health Unit to be closer to home during the pandemic and has become resolute in her conviction that working with individuals who have problematic legal behaviors, combined with mental health concerns, is truly who she enjoys working with and has given her the experience to understand a wide-ranging amount of individuals. Sheri hopes and plans to resume work with the SOTP clients as well as any other clients that wish to use her services!

Sheri combines a unique mixture of eclectic practices including CBT, DBT, mindfulness, evidence-based treatments, and other forms that may include educational tools such as reading, journaling, and homework. Sheri believes that mental illnesses need to be managed before specific problematic behaviors can be addressed. She meets her clients where they are.

Sheri is honest, straight-forward, and loyal. She will advocate for her clients. She has worked in very high-stress situations and is able to keep her composure. Sheri provides her services to others, regardless of age or background. Sheri sees clients with depression, anxiety, family problems, psychosis, paranoia, sexual offenses, or if they want to stop shoplifting. She treats all types of individuals and helps them do their best to succeed.
